William Doyle Obituary

William L. Doyle
Waterville, NY
William Leo Doyle, age 83, of West Bacon Street, passed away on Tuesday, January 24th, 2012, at the Harding Nursing Home in Waterville, after a long illness. Bill was born in Waterville on April 20th, 1928, the son of the late James and Alice (Davitt) Doyle. He was a lifelong resident of Waterville. On January 17th, 1948, Bill married Jeanette Collins at St. Bernard's Church in Waterville. Bill worked at Agway for many years and after retiring he pursued his love of farming and ran a vegetable stand. His favorite pastimes were fishing, hunting, and spending time with his family, especially while camping in the Adirondacks and Florida. For many years, Bill was an avid fan at his grandchildren's sporting events. Later in life, some of Bill's special times were spent with Gregg at his garage restoring a '67 Camaro. Bill is survived by his wife, Jeanette, and their four children, Sandra (Michael) Walsh of Bonita Springs, FL, Deborah Toukatly of Winter Springs, FL, James (Mary) Doyle of Gravesville, NY, and Gregg (Gail) Doyle of Clinton, NY; nine grandchildren, Stephanie Miller, Melissa Ginsburg and Jennifer DeSalvo-Miller, Jeffrey and Megan Doyle, Katherine and Jessica Toukatly, Jillian and Cody Doyle; and great-grandchildren, Taylor Almstead, Mitchell, Heather and Jared Ginsburg, and Ian and Carson Miller. He also leaves a special nephew, Rick Doyle, and a close friend, Jim Toukatly. He was predeceased by a brother, Edward Doyle, and a son-in-law, Nicholas DeSalvo. In honoring Bill's wishes, his body was donated to the Anatomical Gift Program at Upstate Medical University for the advancement of medical education and research. A memorial Mass of the Resurrection will be held at St Bernard's Church in Waterville, on Saturday, February 4th, 2012, at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Waterville Area Volunteer Ambulance Corps, 7769 State Route 20, Waterville, NY 13480. The family would like to give a special thanks to Francis Chabot, MD, and to the staff at the Harding Nursing Home for the exceptional care and kindness they provided during the time Bill spent with them.

So very sorry to hear of your dad's passing. While perhaps a blessing in disguise, I understand the sadness and pain that it nevertheless bears.

I recall well the details of the day he came to Shaker Place Hunting Camp to help retrieve Jim's 10 point buck and the experience of the cable car crossing!

Our thoughts and prayers are with you during this time of loss.
