Alfred F. "Buck"
Jaquay
BROOKFIELD
Alfred F. "Buck" Jaquay, 89, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 15, 2015, at the Pines at Utica Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation. He was born in the Town of Columbus, on August 28, 1926, the son of the late Floyd C. and Maude M. Green Jaquay. Buck had attended Brookfield High School and he was proud to have served in WWII as an Army Veteran. He had served his country in the liberation of the Philippines Islands at the end of WWII. On February 14, 1948, he married Alma H. Burgess. Their loving union lasted over 57 years, until Alma's passing in 2005. Buck had worked for the New York State Canal Authority. From 1966-1973, Buck and Alma had owned Buck's Inn, located in North Brookfield. Later, they bought Jake's Tavern, in Brookfield, until 1991. Buck was a proud member of the Brookfield Johnson Rogers American Legion Post 1492 and the Clinton VFW Post 9591. Buck had many loves in his life. He was an avid outdoorsman, who loved hunting and fishing. He enjoyed shuffle board, playing cards, and he especially enjoyed the close relationships of his patron over the years. His biggest love of all was his beloved wife, Alma, his children, his grandchildren, and all that his heart touched. Buck is survived by his daughter, Ernestine Jellerson, and her companion, Ronald Goodson, of Brookfield; his daughter and son-in-law, Penny and Pete Stiles, of East Homer; and his son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Jacqueline Jaquay, of Brookfield; his sister and brother-in-law, Sylvia and James Crandall, of Waterville; 13 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild on the way. Buck is also survived by a special friend and companion, Barbara Carey; as well as several nieces, nephews, in-laws and close friends. He was predeceased by his parents, as well as a brother and two sisters. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, September 20, 2015, at 3 p.m., at the Paul Funeral Home of Brookfield, with Wade Harris, Buck's grandson, officiating. Interment with Military Honors will follow in Brookfield Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to call at the funeral home on Sunday, from 1-3 p.m., prior to the funeral service. In memory of Buck, and his love for his community, and in lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the Brookfield Fire Department Rescue Squad, Brookfield, NY 13314, as Buck's family appreciated all the care and support the squad gave to him.
