Charles Manino Obituary

Mr. Charles J.
Manino, Sr.
FRANKFORT
Mr. Charles J. Manino, Sr., age 62, a lifelong resident of Frankfort, NY, passed away on Monday, July 14, 2014, at Faxton-St. Luke's Healthcare in the town of New Hartford. Charlie was comforted by his devoted wife, Clare, and his beautiful family, whom he so dearly loved, at his side. He was a self-employed owner-operator of the local businesses Dari-Del and Manino Brothers Farms. Charlie Manino was invincible. There was nothing he couldnt or wouldnt do for his family, his farm, or his friends. He touched so many lives with his kindness, generosity, and humor. The family reflects upon Charlies battle as being that of courageous. He fought for life with his signature strength and humility, not worrying about himself, but trying to be strong for everyone he loved; he protected his family as he did every day of his life. On September 1, 1975, Charlie and the former Clare Thomas were wed at St. Peters & Pauls Church in Frankfort. The nature of their commitment to one another was pure and simple as everything they did was done together. Born February 2, 1952, in Ilion, NY, Charlie was a son of Samuel and Rose (Nicastro) Manino. He was an all out Frankfort guy, and excelled in football with Frankfort-Schuyler school. In fact, he co-captained the 1969-70 championship football team, a feat of which he and his family fondly look back upon. He graduated with the Class of 1971. He carried on his love of football throughout the years with loyalty to the New York Giants football team. He was a member of Historic Old St. Johns Church. Charlie was the life of every party he attended and so vividly lit up a room when he entered. He had an art for story telling as well. Ernest Hemingway once said: Every true story ends in death. Well, this is a true story. Charlie leaves behind a large legacy, touching all with his embodiment of sacrifice, strength, kindness and compassion. Charlie lived the golden rule, always treating others as he wanted to be treated. You simply couldnt meet Charlie and not fall in love with him. And his house: Charlies house was his castle. He was a tireless worker and was blessed with his brother, Sam, and very special nephew, Michael, thankful for both for working side by side with him on the farm. We sincerely thank all of you who have visited, phone called, and sent cards to brighten his day. All of these priceless thoughts and tokens truly did mean so much to him. All of the love helped him get through those really tough days. Charlie truly has been blessed with angels along the way. His legacy lives on through his steadfast family including his wife, Clare, at home; his children, Mary Beth Harrod and her husband, Bob, of Frankfort, Susie Sorrentino and her husband, Mike, of Frankfort, Rose Aldrich and her husband, Ryan, of Utica, Charles Manino, Jr., and his partner, Marco Arruda, of Frankfort, and Frances Manino and her fiance, Adam Sassone, of Yorkville; his siblings, Cecelia Manino Gaetano and her husband, William, of Utica, and Sam Manino and his wife, Kim, of Frankfort; grandchildren, Jodi, Roman, Luke, Maryna, Ryde, and his soon to be expected granddaughter; along with many nieces, nephews, cousins and in-laws. He was preceded in death by his parents, Sam and Rose, and his beloved grandson, Jude Francis Harrod, all of whom have welcomed Charlie in heaven. His funeral will be held on Saturday, July 19th, 2014, at 9:00 AM at The Enea Family Funeral Home, 4309 Acme Road, (Town of Frankfort) Ilion, NY, where prayer will be offered, and at 10:00 AM from Historic Old St. John's Church, 240 Bleecker Street, Utica, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by the Rev. John A. Buehler, Pastor, assisted by Charlies cousin, Deacon Vincent Leo. Interment will follow at Mount Olivet Cemetery, Frankfort, NY. Friends and relatives are invited to attend calling hours at the Enea Family Funeral Home on Friday, July 18th, from 4 until 8 PM. Those wishing to remember Charlie in a special way are asked to consider donations in his memory to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or to a charity of ones choice. Envelopes are available at the funeral home. All services under the direction of Harry & Kevin Enea and Martin L. Ciaccia, Funeral Directors, 315-894-8000.
