Dear family of Thomas Pauley I am deeply saddened that Tom passed away and that you must now endure this sorrow. I met Sargent Pauley in the 1960s when we were both enlisted in the 389th Infantry Regiment, US Army Reserves at Burrstone Road in Utica. Tom was an outstanding soldier and teacher and I never forgot about him. Our mission was instructing Active Army recruits at various stages of their basic training. Tom was absolutely dynamic and took to heart the fact that we were helping young men, soon going to war, have the best survival skills possible. He was kindly but very effective in teaching both the recruits and his fellow Drill Instructors. His obituary is beautiful and in no way overstates his fine attributes. Your memories will be a solace. Comforting Thought: And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away. F. Kerns Laurie

A great guy. He Had a huge impact on my life and that of my brothers. He was actually a very good history teacher as well, I enjoyed his class. I would not be the man I am today if I had not been coached by Mr. Pauley and those around him. His family should be very proud.

My condolences to Tom's family for your loss. Tom was a long time friend and the best wrestling coach my son's ever had. Tom had a knack of getting everything out of anyone who ever wrestled for him and he passed his knowledge on to my son's who wrestled for him many years ago. Tom my friend, you'll be sadly missed, rest in peace. The Ameduri family, David Sr and Jr, Dan

It was my privilege to work with Tom at The House of the Good Shepherd. I'll always remember how his kindness and wisdom inspired the children. His gentle spirit made him accessible and his expective optimism showed children what was possible. The goodness in his heart touched all of us. We were all fortunate to know him. Please accept my sympathies.

Tom Pauley was a wrestlers, wrestler, always in shape, always skilled and tough. He was a true mentor and all I knew loved him. He and Norm Anderson were great coaches!
At my age of almost 70, he remains one of my most unforgettable characters.

To my dear friend Laurie, my utmost condolences for the loss of your loved one, Tom. I will be most happy to contribute to the fund in his memory once it is set up. I miss seeing you at NYSSMA but I'm not in NY during that time. I come up in July and in October. Please tell me the name of your church and maybe Trish & I will be able to attend a service. My best wishes go to your children as well.
