KENNETH SAVARY Obituary

SAVARY, KENNETH C. "KEN" A native of San Diego, CA for 69 years, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, November 2, 2012. He is survived by his loving wife Sandra, daughter Robbin, son Jeffrey and two grandchildren, three nephews and a niece. He is a graduate of Crawford High School, where he met his childhood sweetheart and best friend; they just celebrated 47 years of marriage. They share a love of car rallies, classic automobiles, hockey, being outdoors and family. His father was a shipbuilder and carpenter who often brought him along to teach him his trade, including working on several famous sailing vessels which lead to his love of the ocean. He served with the Army National Guard for six years. Having worked for Safeway / Vons for 40 years, he began his career as a box boy and working his way up through all the departments in the store, became the youngest store manager. Over the years he created a family-type environment for all who worked with him, no one ever called him "Boss". He attended East San Diego Masonic Lodge No. 561. Baja California, Mexico was his second home where all family vacations were spent. This is where he shared his love of the ocean with his children, teaching them water sports. When he retired they would all travel the length of the peninsula camping, whale watching, fishing, Baja truck races and enjoying the beaches. He has many friends and an adopted family, including five godchildren, in Estero Beach Mexico. Anyone who knew him loved him, and he will be greatly missed by each of them. Visitation will be held on Sunday, November 11, from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Funeral services are on Monday, November 12, at noon. El Camino Memorial Park, 5600 Carroll Canyon Rd., San Diego, CA 92121. We are deeply saddened to hear of Ken's death. He was my boss at the Tierrasanta Vons and he was such a nice man.
Unfortunately, I didn't hear of his passing until today. I still
miss his yearly employee Christmas party at his house when he would dress as Santa. He would also put a smile
on my face when he would take out his comb and part the
two to three hairs on his head. My prayers are with his family and he will be missed by all who were fortunate to
know him.

Although I had not seen Ken in many years, I did go to Crawford with him and remember him well. I remember he was warm and had a great sense of humor. I am so sorry to learn of his passing and send his family my deepest condolences. There is never enough time with the ones we love so much. Warmly- Gail Bobrof Braverman

Our family was priviledged to live next door to the Savary family on Belle Isle Drive for 20 years as we "kids" all grew up. Kenny married a dear family friend.

We are saddendd to hear of Ken's passing and share in your loss Sandy. Fond memories will always be there of the Savary and Siegler families and ESDCC times. We send our love to you Sandy and your children

Hello "old friend", been many yrs since we were last in touch but when I saw Ken's notice in the paper I wanted to let you know that I'm thinking of you and praying the Lord will grant you strength to get thru this difficult time. Sounds like youir family was very active and close to one another that's a wonderful legacy for your children. I had forgotten that Ken and I were only 8 days apart in age. Will call and let Karen know about Ken's passing...you're in my thoughts and prayers.
