DOUGLAS KEARNAGHAN Obituary

KEARNAGHAN, DOUGLAS Douglas L. Kearnaghan of Rancho Penasquitos passed away peacefully on January 8, 2011. Doug was born on January 4, 1943 in Freeport, Illinois to his parents, Homer and Vernette Kearnaghan. Raised in Mt. Carroll, Illinois, he was the youngest of three children. Doug met his wife, Linda, during college, and they were happily married for over 44 years. Doug and Linda had two children together. He was a long time resident of San Diego and had careers with Xerox and Office Depot. In retirement, Doug taught business courses at Palomar College. He was President-Elect of the Rotary Club of San Diego North and a past president of the Mt. Carmel High School Athletic Foundation. He enjoyed coaching youth sports and spending time with his children and grandchildren. He loved watching college basketball and was a lifelong, avid Fighting Illini fan. Doug will be fondly remembered by his loving wife and their children, son Jason and his wife Stephanie, daughter Kristen, and his grandchildren Kayley and Elle. He is also survived by his brother Pat Kearnaghan and sister Joan Heddens. Relatives and friends are invited to a Celebration of Life for Doug at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 15, 2011 at El Camino Mortuary, 5600 Carroll Canyon Road, San Diego, CA. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Rotary Club of San Diego North Scholarship Fund.

Thinking of Doug today. It doesn't seem possible that he has been gone so long. He was a very cute teenager when I met him after being engaged to Pat, his older brother. Since we all moved to different places in the country, we didn't get a chance to see him often, but I know that he was a good father and a good husband. What else can be important in life?

Many years ago, I knew Doug as a neighbor in Mt. Carroll, Illinois and also knew him as the little brother of my very good friend.

Although that was the last time I had contact with Doug, many memories came back when reading his obituary.

Doug's family have my deepest sympathy on his passing.

May God be with you in this time of sorrow.

So very sorry to hear of Doug"s passing. Just returned to San Diego and found out. I worked with Doug at Xerox for many years and kept in touch and he left. We would run into each other at the grocery store and catch up on things.
I will miss him dearly

Doug and I worked together at Xerox in San Diego. Doug was always cheerful and very supportive when I transfered into the office. Also, we kept in touch after we both left Xerox. He was a fine man. Teena and I send our thoughts and prayers to his family.

Dear Kearnaghan Family,

I am so sad to hear that Doug has passed from this life. I've known him since 1976 when I was a new Sales Rep at Xerox in Illinois and later he was my Sales Manager and friend in San Diego. Doug always loved his family and he was someone we could all look up to as a really good, honest man. I am so sorry -he will be missed by many people.
