As a fellow Conservator, who attended his many professional presentations and absorbed the knowledge he shared, I am thankful for his life and the contributions he made to the profession. He will be missed by countless professionals in addition to his friends and loving family.

I'm so sorry to hear about Nathan. My fondest memory of him is from a dinner at my mom's house with Nathan and Mary and a few other family members in attendance. I was amazed at how genuinely interested Nathan was in hearing the ideas and opinions of us (30-something, at the time) "kids". I remember feeling not only extremely flattered that this brilliant man seemed to think we might be able to tell him something he didn't already know, but also impressed with his relentless curiosity. Years later, I was even more impressed with how much of Mary's care he took on his shoulders, even when his own health and mobility were compromised. And how, all the while, he diligently kept up with my mom (Mary's sister) during her final years. I'll always remember Nathan for his towering intellect... and the fact that it was matched only by his generosity of spirit.

Dr. Stolow was often in my thoughts & recently shared NOVA's "Saving the National Treasures" with students learning about preservation. We will miss this amazing innovator in our field. I am grateful to have met him & purchased some tools & books from him in his retirement which I use, treasure and remember him by.
