Ervin Best Obituary

WEST POINT - Lanexa--Ervin Carroll Best, born December 4, 1935, passed away July 26, 2016 at his home. Born in Marion, SC, he was the son of late Curtis Wilson Best and Dorothy Ezzell Best. He retired as a Sales Supervisor with Gunnoe's Sausage Co. after 32 years. He attended Christ Community Church. Ervin was predeceased by his sisters Retha Mae Messervy, Doris Best Baines, and Louise Gordon, and his brothers C.W. "Doug" Best, Harry Lee Best, and Clayton Louis Best. To cherish his memory is his devoted wife Carol B. Best, his daughters Sheila Best Tawney and husband Eric Tawney, Lisa Best Edwards and husband Robert Edwards, and his son Ervin "E.C." Best II and wife Tara Best. Also, his sister Annette Davis and sisters-in-law, Mary Francis Best and Bessie Best of Franklin, and brother-in-law William Baker of Hopewell; his grandchildren, Justin Monroe, Heather Edwards, Amanda Edwards, Robbie Edwards and Abigail Best; and great-grandchildren Lily Monroe and Avani Yarrell. Ervin was a great storyteller. No matter what the subject was he could make it funny, exciting and extraordinary. He could make you laugh with a simple gesture or witty remark. He believed in family first, working hard and saving for a rainy day and he did without to give us what we wanted. He would come to our aide at a moment's notice. Ervin showed us unconditional love and to always be there for your family. He is truly missed but will always be remembered. We would like to than our friends and family and Pastor Randy Gardner for all of their acts of kindness and prayers throughout Ervin's illness. A celebration of life service will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to Christ Community Church, 9001 Richmond Rd. W, Toano, VA 23168. Tributes may be posted at www.vincentfh.com.

Uncle Ervin was such a great man, very funny and so full of life. I can still see the images of him dancing by our pool with his sister Annette in tow. You were loved and admired by so many people and will be missed but never forgot. Rest in peace.

Mom and Uncle Ervin. He was the girl because mom was taller! Everyone clapped when they finished and he took off the wig and mom took off the hat!

I will miss my sweet precious brother so much. I have so many memories of him, most of them will make me laugh. He was such a fun person, always keeping everyone laughing. He was a rascal when we were young. He knew that I could not climb a tree and this particular day he made me climb one and when I got settled on a branch he walked away and left me. He is 16 months older than me. When I was little he could not say Annette, he would say, "thats my Sugie. I am still called Sugie and Aunt Sugie.
I know that he is in heaven with the rest of the family and no longer in pain. He is happy and will still be watching over his family. I love him so much and I will never forget him. Bless his family through this hard time.
