MERCEDES, TX. - Venancio P. Gonzalez, 61, a lifetime resident of Mercedes passed away on Friday, September 9, 2011 at Valley Baptist Medical Center in Harlingen, Texas.
He was born October 30, 1949 to Miguel and Silvina Perales Gonzalez in Mercedes, Texas.
He is survived by his loving family; Wife: Alma Angelita Garces Gonzalez, Mother: Silvina P. Gonzalez, 2 daughters; Crystal (Inez) Davila III, Brenda Gonzalez, 4 Grandsons: Diego, Brandon, Austin & Justin Davila all of Mercedes, Texas, 3 Brothers: Miguel (Elma) Gonzalez Jr., Armando (Sylvia) Gonzalez, Ruben Gonzalez, 7 Sisters: Ester (Ricardo) Gonzalez, Gloria (Lucio) de los Santos, Rosa (Esteban) Casarez, Noemi (Eduardo) Infante, Sylvia (Milo) Gonzalez, Maria Elena (Juvenal) Briones, and numerous nieces & nephews.
He is preceded in death by his father, Miguel Gonzalez, son: Ben Gonzalez, sister; Delia Gonzalez.
Visitation will be on Monday, September 12, 2011 from 10:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. with a prayer service to be held at 7:00 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday, September 13, 2011. A 10:00 a.m. with Chapel services to be held at Rudy Garza Chapel of Peace with the Reverend David Gomez of the Rio Life Community Church officiating.
Military services are under the auspices of the American Legion Post 205 of Harlingen, Texas.
Mr. Gonzalez was a dedicated and loving son, brother, husband, father & grandfather. He is and will forever be loved and missed by all those who him.

my tio was like no other nor will his memories ever be.... I remember as a kid growing up visiting the valley almost every summer i'd go and stay with my tio and cuz brenda, he made my summer's just by his little ghost stories he'd tell us or him walking with us to church in sunday mornings cause i was always scared of all the dogs or him letting us run that water bill sky high cause we wanted to play with the slip and slides all day long!!!!! His memories will last a life time and beyond with me!!!! Tio ben i love u and will miss u dearly, visiting u at grandma's house when you'd go every morning for your taco's!!!!! love u very much and u will never be forgotten!!!! see u later gator!!!!
