HARLINGEN, TX. - Robert W. Featherstone, 58 of Harlingen, TX passed away Thursday, June 6, 2013.
Robert was born on December 19, 1954 in Goss, Missouri to Jim and Oneita Featherston.
He is preceded in death by his parents, a brother and sister in law Ralph and Patricia Featherston.
He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 9 years Nivia Featherstone; a daughter Layla Featherstone and a son Elijah Featherstone; 2 sisters Roberta (Robert) Henry and Gladys Bruton; and a foster brother James
(Theresa) Allen; numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and a host of friends.
Visitation will be held 5:00 - 9:00 pm Sunday, June 9, 2013 in the Rudy Garza Funeral Home Chapel.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am Monday, June 10, 2013 in the Rudy Garza Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow in the Mont Meta Memorial Park in San Benito.
The family would like to thank family and friends, Dr. Gidley from M.D. Anderson Hospital in Houston and Dr. Todd Shenkenberg for their support and care during Robert's long courageous battle with cancer.

The family went all out and had lunch after the burial. This family I have to say are very close and support each other which I find very comforting. They had a singer sing the song "Amazing Grace" one of the most memorable ceremonies as he had requested prior to his passing. As everyone sang along a big lightning thunderbolt appeared in the sky loud and bright.
