To Byron, thank you for your insight. To your family, thank you for your hospitality when I picked up the Del Sol. He will be missed. I wish I'd had more time with him.

Josie and family,
Byron will be fondly remembered and our thoughts and prayers will be with you as you adjust to his absence. Those who knew Byron should count it a blessing as he touched everyone he came into contact with. Especially me. He gave me opportunities at a formative period in my life and for that I'm eternally thankful for. His thoughtful thorough preparation for projects and his equally thoughtful and creative solutions to problems were very inspirational. The Nigerian training program was a case in point as we tried to remove some very stuck machinery in a very soggy field. His pioneering inventiveness was years ahead of everyone else in the industry particularly in the dual controls he designed and build before anyone else even thought of them. You'll be missed greatly, but you've also left an indelible footprint in this life.

Josie,
My deepest sympathy for you and your family. During this sad time please find comfort in this poem, I know I did.
I'm Still Here
Friend, please don't mourn for me
I'm still here, though you don't see.
I'm right by your side each night and day
And within your heart I long to stay.
My body is gone but I'm always near.
I'm everything you feel, see or hear.
My spirit is free, but I'll never depart
As long as you keep me alive in your heart.
I'll never wander out of your sight-
I'm the brightest star on a summer night.
I'll never be beyond your reach-
I'm the warm moist sand when you're at the beach.
I'm the colorful leaves when Autumn's around
And the pure white snow that blankets the ground.
I'm the beautiful flowers of which you're so fond,
The clear cool water in a quiet pond.
I'm the first bright blossom you'll see in the spring,
The first warm raindrop that April will bring.
I'm the first ray of light when the sun starts to shine,
And you'll see that the face in the moon is mine.
When you start thinking there's no one to love you,
You can talk to me through the Lord above you.
I'll whisper my answer through the leaves on the trees,
And you'll feel my presence in the soft summer breeze.
I'm the hot salty tears that flow when you weep
And the beautiful dreams that come while you sleep.
I'm the smile you see on a baby's face.
Just look for me, friend, I'm every place!
Our loved one's will always be with us.

Dear Josie, Judy, Barney & Lisa
If in a persons lifetime they have the privilge of meeting a person such as Byron, they should consider themselves truly fortunate. I am proud to say I had that honor. Byron may be missed but never forgotten, and when you feel a wee giggle about something he may have said come through your thoughts he might be just letting you know he is there.
Thoughts are with you all.
Sue and Peter

Dear Josie, Judy, Barney & Lisa:
My deepest sympathy to all of you.
To Byron, my dear friend. I miss you, my inspiration, the best boss I ever had for 18 years. Your knowledge and excellence was unsurpassed, not to mention your wonderful sense of humour and true kindness. You were and always will be precious to me.
Until we meet again.

Josie and family, I'm saddened to hear of your loss, but also glad that we all had the opportunity to know Byron. I remember Byron as a great boss and excellent mentor, and as a dynamic partner in our business.

Dear Josie, Judy, Barney, and Lisa,
Your Dad was one of the finest men I ever met. I learned so much from him and was honoured to call him friend for 37 years. My world was greatly enriched for having known him. I cherished and still cherish his friendship.
May you find peace in knowing that no one is truly gone while his memory lives in the hearts of his friends.
A place in my heart will never belong to anyone else.
With deepest love,
David Patterson

Josie, Judy and Lisa, Barney,
We are very sad to learn of Byron's passing. He was so kind to us when we first started in the business. Josie, your visit to Quesnel was a treat, and we were so happy to return the favour of your hospitality. We still have the 1974 Caddy, his pride and joy. He was a teacher, innovator, leader, and most of all a friend. The respect for him and his opinions was shared by all who crossed his path. He was our inspiration as an advisor, mentor, father figure and confidant. Always the gentleman, Byron had a temperament which drew people to him. Both Joan and I are better people for having known Byron. He had a way of bringing out the best in people. We wish to extend our heartfelt sympathies for your loss.

My fondest memory of Uncle Bryon is when he drove the kids and I to the top of the mountain in his antique car. We had the wind in our hair and he had the biggest smile on his face. I can close my eyes and still see the view of the ocean. His kindness and compassion will be missed. Please know that you are all in our thoughts. We love you! *hugs*

Josie. We are sorry to hear of your family's loss. When we heard my first reflection was of Byron personally teaching me something I do every day...drive a car. I also remember him coming over to our house when we purchased the Mitchell and teaching me how to perfect the art of double clutching - something I did today when driving our Model A. We have fond memories of the Vinette dinners that you graciously hosted at your home including the pool game matches. He was always very kind and friendly to both Mary and I. We will all miss him.

So glad to have known such a gentle, kind man who made our family feel so welcome and embraced from the moment we met him at our son's wedding to his wonderful daughter Lisa that I am so proud to call my daughter. We will miss you, Byron. I hope where you are there are cars! Much love!
