DRITSAS, Athina (nee Deligiannidis)
July 12, 1966 to September 13, 2012
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved wife, mother, daughter, sister and dear friend. Athina was taken from us far too soon on Thursday, September 13th, 2012 after a courageous battle with cancer. Her strength and determination to survive over the past few weeks will never be forgotten. Predeceased by her father George in 2000, Athina is survived by her devoted husband Bill, children Michael and Marisa, mother Mary, father-in-law Michael, mother-in-law Katherine, brothers Harry and Bill, brother-in-law Nick (Jude), nieces Katie and Sofie, many aunts, uncles, cousins and dear friends. Athina embraced life and had a strong opinion that life was meant to be lived. She loved being with her family and friends and was never too tired to get blinged up for a night out. She especially enjoyed late nights of Greek dancing and music at the bouzoukia. She loved travelling and her favorite destinations included Las Vegas, Mexico and her homeland Greece. She lived for sunny Vancouver days, Sundays with her family and Holidays. Athina had a passion for learning and found her calling when she was introduced to the Montessori education program. She was the founder and owner of the Kensington Montessori Child Care and treasured the opportunity to mold the minds of young children through the Montessori curriculum. She loved her work. Athina will be lovingly remembered for her intense love, devotion and commitment to her family. She cherished her two beautiful children and the remarkable young adults they are growing up to be. Athina was always there to listen and lend a helping hand and she was never short of sound and practical advice. She will be remembered for her unconditional love, support and kindness for all of those she loved, along with many precious memories and her radiant smile. Never to be replaced and never to be forgotten, Athina will remain in our hearts forever. Thank you as well to all the doctors, nurses and support staff at Vancouver General Hospital for all your care. Prayers will be held on Thursday, September 20, 2012 at 7:00 pm at St. Nicholas & Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church, 4641 Boundary Road, Vancouver where at Service will be held on Friday, September 21, 2012 at 12:00 pm. Father Evangelos Aravantinos officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery, Burnaby. Condolences may be sent by visiting
