ACKERSON, Daniel Lee (aka Jonn Mick)
July 23, 1923 Inglewood, Ca. -
December 25, 2012 Vancouver, BC
Daniel Lee Ackerson, aka Jonn Mick, was raised in the Salinas Valley, served in the US Navy 1941- 1947, was stationed in the South Pacific on a mine sweeper during the war, then learned to fly in the Navy after the war; flying was the love of his life. As a bush pilot in the arctic and an international airline pilot he traveled the world. In his senior years, known by his nom de plume Jonn Mick, he was a philosopher, writer, computer tech and ballroom dancer. Survived by his wife Lu-An (m1952), his children Steve (Mary), Danaca (Harvey), Paul (Cheryl), grandchildren, Carla, Earl, Faroe, Skyler, Crey and Cheyeanne, his sisters, Joan Bozzo and Pauline Hillesheim of Gilroy Ca.; humorous, generous, always a gentleman, much loved; he will be missed. Our heartfelt thanks to all who so compassionately helped care for him.

apartment manager, I always found him
courteous and kind with a great sense of humour.

Our fondest memory of Jonn, thanks for your dedication and love of ballroom dancing, we will carry your torch of what your set up - the Sunday Dance Program at the False Creek Community, Granville Island.
You have inspired us to carry on dancing even we can only dance for a duration of half a song of Vienna Waltz or Cha Cha Cha.

"Humorous, generous, always a gentleman, much loved; he will be missed."
He always dressed so smartly; I'd see him walk past my apartment on his way out to partake in ballroom dancing, wearing a nifty little hat. I will miss his impish grin and witty sense of humour. Will always remember the time he cooked me some fried bananas.
