HOWARD Harry Michael 1950 - 2009 It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our darling Harry at home in Vancouver. He was predeceased by his father Harry Irving Howard, his uncle, Ted Hadley, and his aunt and uncle, Kathleen and Dan Murray. He is survived by his mother, Ruth Howard, his wife Joanne Neveux and their daughter Nikki , his sister, Catherine Howard (Gordon Campbell), his daughters Molly (Paul), and Katie (Mike), and his son, John Patrick, and their mother Janet, as well as his grandsons Kalen, Brendan and Colton. Also missing him are sister, Barbara Gillanders (David), uncle, Pat Hadley (Dawn Richards), Ted's wife, Wendy Bailey, and countless friends. Harry had a Diploma in Reading Education from McGill University and a Master's Degree in Education from the University of San Diego, and taught Special Education in the Gibsons and Abbotsford School Districts for many years. We know he made a difference in so many children's lives. Family and friends will gather to remember Harry, his charm and terrific sense of humour, on Saturday, April 11th from 3 to 6 p.m. at Aberthau, 4397 West 2nd Avenue, Vancouver. Donations in his name may be sent to the Canadian Heart and Stroke Foundation. "Let your soul and spirit fly into the mystic."

I remember Harry from our days at Simpson Elementary where we were teaching neighbours. I best remember his sense of humour and fun, his service to his students, and his good looks. My thoughts are with his family at this sad time.

My heartfelt condolences. I am very saddened by the news of Harry. I taught with him at North Poplar Elem in the 90"s. I always found him to be a fun, dedicated and responsible teacher. All the best. (Dormick Park Elem.)

I was deeply and personally saddened to hear of Harry's passing. Harry was part of the 'Dunbar Gang' along with a bunch of us that laughed our way through high school. I had the honor of being Harry's date for grad. We 'suffered' pictures in his parent's yard and took off in a funky, blue corvair with a push-button transmission. So cool. God, those were fun times and we were such Dunbar/Kerrisdale brats. I have a few pictures and I shall cherish his memory forever in my heart. Thanks for all the fun Harry - and most sincere and heart felt regards to Harry's family.

No other teacher has ever had the profound effect that Mr. Howard did with my daughter, he gave her not just the gift of reading but the ability to have the confidence in herself to keep on going - Thank you Harry

Dear Mrs. Howard, Cathy and family,

My most heartfelt condolences on the loss of your dearly beloved son and brother.

Harry was always a handsome and spunky lad, growing up in Dunbar. You did not easily forget him.

I am sure that he will be sorely missed by all his family and friends. My thoughts and prayers are with all of you.

I didn't know Harry that well although we were in the same classrooms, walked the same halls, were taught by the same teachers, cheered for the same teams, listened to the same music, laughed at the same jokes, and were about the same age. Maybe I know Harry more than I thought. My condolences to his family and friends.

Harry, may you be basking in heaven's glory. I remember our grade 12 days. You had the spirit of one who enjoyed an innocent prank which brought life to the corridors of learning. These times have not been forgotten.
