My wife and I had the pleasure of meeting Jorgen at the Poppy Estates Golf course 3 years ago. We were both immediately taken by this very bright, happy, interesting, and incredibly well-conditioned man. Within 5 minutes of meeting him I asked my wife Dianne "who does he remind you of" to which she replied "my dad". And it wasn't just their respective Scandinavian heritages but there was a striking resemblance and both had very similar wonderful personalities. From that day forward, when we weren't travelling, I made a point of trying to play golf once a week with Jorgen. He was such a joy to be with and quickly became my inspiration. To this day I have never met such a bright, kind, energetic, and intelligent man and to top it all off he was almost ninety when we first met. Given his age, renowned quick pace of play, and fine golfing skills, he was a legend at the Poppy golf course. I will miss him dearly and wish Shirley and the family that he loved so much all the best.

Jorgen will always be one of my heroes. He and Shirley skied together for years, up Hollyburn, and that's where we met. He will remain an inspiration to many ... as he would easily glide over 30 km of trails, several times a week ... until 90. I only hope and wish that Bill and I will be able to do the same. Lots of love, from the Coopers, Jennifer and Bill.

I knew Jorgen not only through Sons of Norway, but mostly through Normanna. We were on the board of directors together for a lot of years, during the rebuild. He was always a great supporter of Normanna, and we always looked forward to Jorgen and Shirley being at the events. My condolences to his family. He was a man that many, myself included, admired and looked up to.

I knew Jorgen through the loving eyes and heart of his eldest daughter Annalee. What a wonderful father, husband, and friend to many he was! And, he was accomplished! One must include a life well-lived among his many achievements! Peace to all who remain behind❤

Jorgen taught me @ UBC. He stood out as a kind & compassionate educator. He contributed much to the lives of others. Will be missed, but a great legacy!
