Phyllis BOHN

BOHN, Phyllis EileenFamily and friends are mourning the passing of Phyllis, who died December 18 after two difficult months in hospitals. She was born, 83 years ago, in Shaunavon, a town in southern Saskatchewan, and was raised on her parent's wheat farm. At age 21, she moved to the West Coast. In New Westminster, she met Mathew Bohn, who grew up on a wheat farm in northern Saskatchewan. Phyllis, the only child of Frederick Heibein and Johanna Bjorklund, married Mathew on October 8, 1949. She embraced Mathew's large family, gave birth to four children, and made family her first priority. The young lovers from the Prairies spent the next six decades of their lives together, at homes in Coquitlam, Port Coquitlam and Surrey, and at the family cabin in Point Roberts. Phyllis is survived by her devoted husband Mathew, her children Barry (Lana), Glenn (Olivette Cyr), Grant and Beverly (Stewart Novak), seven grandchildren (Christopher, Brandon, Mikaila, Anna, Alexandre, Taylor and Shaun), two great-grandchildren (Christian and Dylan), and many sister and brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews and cousins. A memorial service for Phyllis will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, December 30, at First Memorial Funeral Services - Fraser Heights, 14835 Fraser Highway, Surrey, 604-589-2559. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Kidney Foundation or the Salvation Army.
