Bernice Akers Obituary
Bernice O. Akers passed away on Thursday, November 25, 2010 at Shoreline Care Center in Oxnard. She was 90 years of age.
Bernice was born April 27, 1920 in Dallas County, Arkansas and enjoyed her lifelong career as a homemaker. She and her husband Doc came to California from Arkansas in 1938 and they settled in Santa Paula. In 1958 they moved to Oxnard, which they permanently called home.
She was the loving mother of Patrick (Leola), Mike (Glenda) and Dan Akers (the late Sharon). She is also survived by her brother Paul Calaway (Frances) of Michigan; eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Bernice was predeceased by her husband, Grover (Doc) Akers.
A graveside service of remembrance will be held at 11am on Tuesday, December 7 at Conejo Mountain Memorial Park. Arrangements are under the direction of Conejo Mountain Funeral Home, Crematory & Memorial Park, 2052 Howard Rd., Camarillo, CA 93012, (805) 482-1959.
