Marie was managing the ICU in 1982 when I went to work there. I was a new RN and she, rightly so, was leary of my competencies. Over the years she became a mentor and we developed a relationship of caring and respect. Twenty-four years later she came to my retirement party. I will always remember her and the role she played in my development. She never expected more than she was willing to give--I've never known another like her. My condolences to Marie's family and rest in peace, Mother Marie.

I also remember Marie. She was more than an excellent nurse she was an interesting person with a unexpected sense of humor. Moulded by a time seeped in tradition and rules it was my privilege to have worked with her.
