Edwin Holly Obituary

Longtime resident of Camarillo, Edwin (Ed) Earl Holly, age 84, passed away on Thursday, November 25 after a lengthy illness.

Edwin was born in Elizabethton, Tennessee on October 3, 1926. Ed was a WWII veteran and he served with the U.S. Army, 17th Infantry Regiment, in the Pacific Theater. He fought in the battle for Okinawa. He also served with the Occupation Army in Korea at the end of the war. He then worked for many years in the entertainment industry starting at CBS in New York. He went to work for Desilu Studios in Hollywood, working closely with Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz. He later went to work for Paramount Pictures and the William Morris Agency, also in Hollywood.

Ed and his wife Patricia (Pat) Holly were very active in the Padre Serra Church in Camarillo and were founding members of the parish. They were both Eucharistic ministers. Ed also organized the food distribution program at the Leisure Village community of Camarillo. He was also a volunteer instructor at the Braille Institute in Santa Barbara.

He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Patricia; daughters, Patrice Aiello and her husband Frank of Washington, Amy Weber and her husband James of Oak View; niece Demaris Martinez and her husband Anthony of Hawaii and their daughters Marion and Antonia; grandson Scott Lowe of San Diego.

The visitation will be held at Padre Serra Parish in Camarillo at 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday, December 1, followed by a funeral mass at 10:30 a.m. Father William Lowe will preside. Burial will follow at the Santa Clara Cemetery in Oxnard. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Griffin Family Funeral Chapels in Camarillo. (482-1166)

Ed was a very special and dear man, with a sweet disposition and charming manner. He was always willing to share his interests, knowledge and experiences, when asked about the pin maps and pictures of their many travel memories. Rest in peace, Ed.

We truly enjoyed getting to know Ed these past 15 years at Padre Serra. I will miss his zeal for life, his great stories, positive attitude and generous spirit.
