Joe Kim

1918 - 2010

Joe Kim, loving husband, father, grandfather and friend, passed away peacefully on Oct. 18, 2010 at the age of 92. He was born on Sept. 18, 1918.

Joe grew up in South Korea where he went to college and earned a degree in business. Soon thereafter he worked in a prestigious banking position when he met his beautiful wife, Helen. Joe continued to work in various finance positions and eventually proudly worked for the Church World Service (CWS) that was headquartered in America. He ensured that CWS provided fair and efficient aid to Korea. He and his family immigrated to America in 1973.

Throughout his life, Joe was always dedicated to his faith and devoted much of his time as an elder of the Presbyterian Church. Joe will always be remembered for his positive approach to life. He was the foundation of not only his family, but of anyone who had the privilege of knowing him. Foremost he will be remembered for his sense of humor, his loving heart and the joy he shared with all. He will be greatly missed.

The family wishes to thank the many friends that have offered their loving support and prayers. He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Helen; children, Sukyung Kim of Los Angeles, Steve Kim of Los Angeles, Sam Kim of Federal Way, Wash., and Lori Hargett of Ventura; and by his nine grandchildren.

Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 22. Funeral Services will be celebrated from 1 to 3 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 22 at the Garcia Mortuary Chapel in Oxnard.
