Dorothy Medeiros, age 88, passed away on the morning of Oct. 10, 2010 after a lengthy illness, surrounded by her family.
Dorothy was a 42-year resident of Ventura County and resided in Simi Valley from 1967 until 2002. After suffering a stroke she resided with her daughter and son-in-law in Thousand Oaks. Dorothy was active in the Simi Second Ward of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day-Saints and the Simi Valley Senior Center. She enjoyed singing and was involved in many choirs.
Dorothy will always be remembered for her happy spirit, always willing to drop what she was doing to go out with a friend to lunch or a movie. Dorothy was born on Sept. 6, 1922 in Lincoln, Neb., to Anton Hofmann and Helen Nord. She was the thirteenth child. All of her siblings predeceased her.
Dorothy loved her daughter and grandchildren and was an excellent grandmother to Matthew, Angelyn, Marcus, Joshua and Jennifer Taylor. She is survived by her daughter, Helen Taylor; son-in-law, Bret Taylor; stepson, Brant Medeiros; cousins, Della Irwin, Ione Ruehl and Edith Saich; and nephews, Gary Vaughn, Neal Gates, Freda and Paul Hofmann and their families. She lived long enough to see her first great-grandson, Charles Taylor.
We are thankful for the wonderful life she lived and the kindness she showed everyone.
