Nov. 14, 1930 - Dec. 9, 2010 Alan passed away quitely in his home among family on Dec. 9, 2010 after a short illness. Alan served proudly in the U.S. Air Force during the years of the Korean conflict. He was particularly proud of being a driving inspirational force behind the launching of Investors Business Daily, a paper that reflected his passion for the financial investment business. A memorial service will be held 4 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 8 at the Agoura Hills/Calabasas Community Center, 27040 Malibu Hills Road in Calabasas.

My condolences to Alan's family. I remember Alan when he lived in apartment unit on 28th Street in Vancouver. My girl friend at Shumway Junior High lived at the same apartments. (We later married and divorced.) I enjoyed his friendship through out high school, too. He was indeed a fine and true gentle man.

We send our deepest sympathy to Patty and the entire MacGregor family. We first met Alan at the Save Agoura Hills meeting in 1985. He has devoted a major portion of his life to the quality environment and general planning of our community in the City of Agoura Hills.
Alan will be greatly missed by Barbara & I as our neighbor in Fountainwood. His friendly greeting & smile at the door of his home will not be soon forgotten, including his generousity of time to his children, friends and neighbors. May he rest in peace.

I am one of those people who met Alan MacGregor in the Agoura Hills Starbucks coffee shop. Pretty soon we spoke with one another and found we had mutual friends in the Pavleys. Then I found out he knew "something" about finances and the market was going down very fast. Everyone at Starbucks liked him and we asked about where he was in the mornings. I took his obit to our coffee shop this evening so they will understand about our "missing friend." One can see how a smile and a hello impacts people in their daily lives. May he rest in peace and may you find strength through your family and friends.

Alan will be greatly missed by all who knew him. I was in school with him from the 8th grade through our graduation from Vancouver High School in 1949. He treated everyone the same - whether one of the "popular" kids or just one of his classmates - didn't make any difference to Alan. I was proud to call him my friend. I'm speaking for our Class of 1949 when I say, "We'll all miss you Alan!" Until we meet again . . .

Michael, I am so sorry to hear about the loss of your Father. He was a great man. I am grateful for his kindness and have fond memories of him, from years back. I wish you and your Mom and family much love at this time especially and strength to find your way through, especially as you take this special time to honor him and his life and accomplishments. If there is anything you need, please do not hesitate to ask. HUGE hugs and prayers being sent your way. ~Gina and family

My father was a great man and will be missed by all. He greeted everybody with a smile and would treat a pauper with the same respect that he would give to a prince. He gave everybody the benefit of the doubt and then let their character either prove him right or wrong. He was so generous to others and it brought him great joy to give to others. All of these qualities are getting harder and harder to find in the new millenium, it would benefit all of us to note this mans approach to life and apply it to our own.
I love you poppo.
