Beloved daughter of Michael and Cari Taylor and cherished sister and best friend of older brother Jesse Taylor, Ashley Rebecca Taylor went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Monday, June 22 at the age of 23.
Ashley was a radiant presence who touched the lives of everyone she met. A beautiful, passionate and immensely giving young artist, Ashley was born on June 3, 1986 in Los Angeles, but spent her early years in Eugene, Oregon, where her family moved in 1991. Her creative gifts were already evident at seven, when she played the young Cosette in a college production of Les Miserables and began four years of singing with the Oregon Childrens Choir.
Studying gymnastics from the age of four, she attended her first ballet class at eight and fell in love with dance--and never looked back. She continued to perform musical theater, but now became an ardent student of dance, studying at the Eugene School of Ballet and performing professionally in The Nutcracker Suite at the age of eight.
After attending Eugene Christian School, Ashley moved with her family back to Los Angeles in November 1997. She continued her dance training at the Cuizon Studio in Thousand Oaks while attending Hillcrest Christian School. At sixteen she began performing liturgical dance at Malibu Vineyard, combining her love of dance with her passion for Jesus. An avid artist, she also excelled in her teen-aged years as a fine artist, painter and sculptor, and became an active member of Calvary Community Church.
After graduating from Westlake High School in 2004, Ashley moved to the Bay Area to continue her ballet training at the San Francisco Conservatory of Dance. She began dancing professionally, performing with various contemporary ballet companies throughout San Francisco.
Her brother Jesse had started a rock band in Los Angeles, and after singing backup with him, Ashley returned to Los Angeles in 2007 and began a second career as a singer-songwriter, writing songs and eventually performing on tour in Europe earlier this year.
Ashley is remembered as a dazzlingly charismatic young woman and loyal friend who cared deeply for people and was not afraid to travel with them through lifes most difficult challenges. Fearless and fierce in her love for others (and for her dog Gabriel, aka Mr. Goob), Ashley was a beacon of light and encouragement, and her absence leaves a deep hole in the lives of all who knew her. The memorial service for Ashley Taylor will be held this Tuesday, June 30, at 12:00 noon at Bel Air Presbyterian Church in Los Angeles. Flowers in her memory should be brought to Pierce Brothers in Valley Oaks-Griffin by Tuesday morning at 9:00 a.m.

Michael, Cari, and Jesse,
I only just heard of your loss and my heart goes out to you. My memories of Ashley and your whole family are bound up in joy and laughter and such wonderful talent and creativity! Your love and service to God enriched our lives at Eugene Christian School. I still find myself reliving The Sound of Music as it could only come from the young lives you helped nourish. I pray that the Peace that passes all understanding continue to comfort you until that day you are once again all together with Him!
Love,

this is kc from record outlet , I just found out . the first time I met Ashley she immediately got my attention I was about to hire someone but I hired Ashley instead after just a few minutes of talking . I loved working with her listening to her sing along to records , how happy she was when I gave her a bunch of folk records I even gave her some of my old clothes from when I was her age . I always loved the way she dressed. I never heard from her after she left for Europe, I wondered about her ,now I am absolutely heart broken . She shared many stories of her life growing up I felt like I had known her forever but it was only a few months.
To her family I am lost for words as a parent I cant begin to imagine what you are going through I am deeply sorry for your loss. kc staples

Dear Taylor family,
I received Cari's and Ashley's letters today and it has affected me deeply. I guess I want to tell anyone who knew her, that even I, who met her briefly, could see what a good person she was.
Ashley was a 'stranger' I came across in a parking lot. She didn't have enough money, and she seemed genuinely distressed and 'stuck,' so I offered to make up the difference. She offered to pay me back and wanted my address. I thought "ok" but never really expected to see the money and that was fine.
To get her letter with the money, and to hear she'd passed away...well, I'm speechless for many reasons. I shared the story with the parking lot attendant, who I see often as I often park my car there. He remembered her. He's a very nice man. He couldn't finish the letter, he said "this is too much."
No doubt she was a genuinely good person. I could see that in an instant.

Michael and Cari,
My husband, Jay, and I are close friends of Rhetta and Lee Watt. Lee wrote us about your loss.
We pray that God will bring comfort and understanding as only He can do. Obviously, Ashely's life was greatly influenced by her parents' faith and zest for life. What a gift from you to her!
You will continually be in our prayers.

Dear Taylor family, I was so sorry to hear of Ashley's passing. I have been praying for you, and will continue to do so. The picture of Ashley and obituary is a beautiful tribute to her. She was an amazing young woman. A treasure to all who knew and loved her. I am sorry that I did not know her, but feel that I did because of my friendship with the Collins. May God give you incredible strength and comfort in the days to come. Alisa Houck
