Greatly loved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother went to her Lord and Savior Oct. 9, 2010.
Born in Buffalo, N.Y., in 1915, she lived a full and productive life of 95 years. She came to California with her family in 1929 during the Great Depression. Soon after graduating she married Clyde H. Hefler. They had three girls. After her husband passed away she returned to work as a church secretary for 24 years and worked for the Methodist Board of Pensions. She was on the Commission for the City of Thousand Oaks, Vice President of the AARP local chapter, active at Goebel Senior Center and took on several volunteer jobs. She even starred in a TV commercial against junk mail.
Her interests were her family, church, reading, travel, and helping others. She was a wonderful cook and could still remember recipes from memory in her 95th year even though she physically couldn't cook.
She is survived by her three daughters, eight grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, a brother and a sister. Viewing will be from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 23 at Pierce Brothers in Westlake. The service will be at Westlake Lutheran Church, 29295 Agoura Rd., Agoura Hills at 12:30 p.m.
