Bobby Hoffman Obituary

Bobby Hoffman, 82, of Simi Valley passed away after a long battle with lung cancer on Tuesday, Nov. 16, 2010.

His wife, Janis, preceded him in death. They were married for 51 years. Bob is survived by his five children: Cynthia Stone, Carrie Kittinger, Debbie Benedict, Willis Hoffman and Lonnie Walgren; 13 grandchildren: Hollie, Willis, Danielle, Jessica, Lindsay, Dana, Katelyn, Dianne, Anna, Emily, John, Jacob and Jane; one great-grandson, Dillon, and another one on the way.

Bob was born on Aug. 15, 1928 in Los Angeles. He attended high school in Henderson, Nev. As a teenager he appeared in the movie Knute Rockne playing football with Ronald Reagan. After proudly serving his country in the Korean War he met and married his wife Janis. They moved to Simi Valley in 1964 where they raised their children.

Bob worked in Santa Monica for many years as a superintendent for a plastic mold company. He then went to work for the City of Simi Valley as a plant operator for the Public Works Department. Bob really enjoyed working for the City and retired at the age of 62. Bob spent many summers in Oregon with his cousins where he once caught a 42-pound salmon. He also loved to take his children and grandchildren to Disneyland and Knott's Berry Farm so he could ride the roller coasters. He loved the Disney character Goofy and he loved being "goofy" and making his kids laugh. He also loved reading and watching westerns.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 23 at the Simi Valley Community Church at 2000 Royal Avenue, Simi Valley. Viewing will be prior to the service from 10-11 a.m. assisting the family with funeral arrangements is the family owned and operated Rose Family Funeral Home, our family helping yours, 581-3800.
