Carol Brewer Obituary

Carol June Brewer, born Aug. 7, 1933 in Los Angeles, spent her early years living in Long Beach and graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School (Long Beach) in 1951.

During the summer months, Carol June enjoyed the beach and harbor, in particular sailing. She enjoyed teaching people to sail as a teenager in return for getting the pleasure of being out on the water, which Carol June had a lifelong love for.

Her college years were spent at UCLA, where she studied chemistry, human physiology, microbiology, and participated in research studies targeted at the development of human blood dialysis.

Carol June was married to Jack Wayne Brewer on Aug. 1, 1959. They had two sons. Moving to Simi Valley in 1965, Carol June and Jack raised their family, and enjoyed the pleasure of acquiring many lifelong friends along their way toward retirement.

Upon retirement, Carol June continued to enjoy her love of the water by taking many cruises, and fueled a passion for genealogy by not only documenting her own family's history, but also volunteering at the Mormon genealogy library, assisting any and all that shared her curiosity about their ancestry. This was also a place where she made and kept many dear friends.

Ironically, her final few years were spent receiving dialysis three times a week for failing kidneys, but Carol June was diligent in staying on course with treatment and maintenance, not surprising considering her early work with respect to cause and effect of kidney failure.

After a mild heart attack and subsequent unexpected stroke, Carol June was admitted to UCLA medical center and lost her short battle against time on Dec. 26, 2010.

Preceded in death by her husband, Jack, and survived by her sons, Stephen J. Brewer (Daytona Beach, Fla.) and Douglas W. Brewer (Jennifer); granddaughter, Kathryn L. Brewer (Snohomish, Wash.); brother, Douglas G. Noble (Ruth); and nieces, Marybeth Williams (Hague), and Megan Rosenthal (Jon).

Carol June was a treasure that was cherished by all those that knew and loved her.

Dear Stephen,
I am so sorry to hear of your mother's passing. Just wanted you to know I'm thinking of you.

It was with regret that I read that Carol had so recently passed away. Years and years ago, we worked together at Mervyn's in Simi duing its heyday. She was well-liked, a hard-worker and mother hen all in one! And so sassy! She was fun!
I hope she didn't suffer, and can now "cruise" in peace. My thoughts and sympathies to the family and friends of this dear lady.

I am sadden to hear of Carol's passing we worked together at Mervyn's. I really enjoyed working there with Carol and everyone. She was so energenic and such a busy lady. Carol would show us picures of her cruises, and always enjoying life. May she rest in Peace as she joins her husband Jack. love Josie Muñoz
