Danny Martin, 54, of Ventura passed away peacefully Monday, October 25, 2010 at home with his wife at his side.
Danny was born September 27, 1956 in Ventura. He attended St. Catherine's, Anacapa Middle School and Ventura High. Danny was an avid sports fan of both professional and college leagues. Never missing a game of his favorite teams, Oklahoma Sooners, St. Louis Rams and the L.A. Dodgers. Danny's other passion second to his love of sports was riding his custom built bike with friends.
Danny was a wonderful man with a great sense of humor. He had a smile that could light up a room. He was a caring and giving soul. He was very much a protector of those he dearly loved and cared for. He was a man built of strength and perseverance. Those are just a couple of things about Danny that set him apart from others and made him special. He had a laugh that was so contagious; you couldn't help but laugh right along with him. He always had some kind of story to tell, and each and every one of them he told so well.
Our lives have been changed forever, nothing worse than having to say goodbye. Remember all the laughs, be thankful for the time spent, cherish and hold the memories close because that's what he would want the most.
God looked around His garden,
And He found an empty place.
And then He looked down upon the earth,
And saw your tired face.
He put His arms around you,
And lifted you to rest.
God's garden must be beautiful,
He always takes the best.
He knew that you were suffering,
He knew you were in pain,
He knew that you would never
Get well on earth again.
He saw the road was getting rough,
And the hills were hard to climb,
So He closed your weary eyelids,
And whispered "Peace be thine."
It broke our hearts to lose you.
But you didn't go alone,
For part of us went with you,
The day God called you home.

Growing up in Ventura with Danny and Marc was always full of fun and full of adventures. In High School we all went through so many car and trucks. We started out with beat up cars which we used to bump into each other or sneak up behind each other and give a push. All in fun. It was like our own demolition derby. Then we all got fast cars. I remember Danny's Green Camero and racing him in the Mach1. We were not without an accident or two. Danny turned to soon in the Keys with his dads car the Pin tail Rivera that found a Palm tree. I remember because my dad got me out of bed and we went down to help Danny. I also found Marc one time sitting on Main St. and I lost control of my Plymuth and hit Marc. Yes with all the years of growing up we never had a dull moment. Even at work when we were painting houses on the base we found time to paint 4 houses a day and find the girls and have fun when we were young.
Danny worked hard and played just as hard. All his friends loved the guy who always made us laugh. Danny my friend you will be missed but not forgotten. Rhett Squires(Ventura, CA.

I'm so sorry to hear about the passing of my old friend Danny. We were best of friends and spent most of the the 1970's together running a muck. I now so wish I'd stayed in contact with you. Last time I talked to you was on the phone about 10 years ago. But I'd thought you'd be around close to 100. So sorry to hear of your passing my dear friend. First Joe, then Andy and now you Danny. You had to be one of the funniest guys I've ever met. And you looked out for me when my girl (now my wife) left me in 1980. After I won her back, you came to visit us in San Diego while Mia and I managed an apartment complex. You were a awesome man and one of the best friends I've ever had. I love you bro and you'll be sorrily missed.
RIP my brother,
Brian
