David E. Cressman, Sr. died in his sleep on Nov. 13, 2010 at the age of 65 after a 12-year battle with Pick's Disease.
Dave was born Feb. 11, 1945 in Chicago to Pastor George and Margaret Cressman. His higher education began at Wittenberg College where he met his first love, Mary Frances Brand. He then transferred to Ohio State where he received his bachelor's degree in electrical engineering.
Dave and Mary Frances had two children, David, Jr. and Juliana. Mary Frances passed away in 1988 after a tragic accident in Camarillo.
Dave worked at Industrial Nucleonics Corporation from 1965 until 1976. From 1976 to 1979 he worked at Intec Corporation. Beginning in 1979 until he retired due to his disability in 2000, he worked for Teradyne Corporation. He began in Boston, Mass., as the IBM sales manager while living in Brookfield, Conn. Then he relocated his family to San Martin, Calif., where he continued as sales manager. His last position with Teradyne was in Agoura Hills where he was product manager of both the VLSI and Memory Test Divisions.
Dave was remarried in 1989 to Joan Thompson. They lived a full life enjoying church, their ranch and horses in Camarillo, friends and travel, living in Camarillo. When Dave's dementia progressed that he needed live-in help, they relocated to Thousand Oaks.
Dave was very generous and loving. He was detail-oriented and would work hard, then play hard. His bellowing laugh was contagious. If there was a project to be done, he would think it through and work on it until it was completed. Although his dementia was diagnosed in 1998, he continued working two more years. In 2000 he went on permanent disability and was able to live at home with the help of caregivers until 2005.
My deepest thanks go to Josephine Garcia, our wonderful live-in caregiver, as well as his dedicated caregivers at Leisure Living in Agoura Hills, Family Care Cottage in Thousand Oaks and Livingston Memorial Hospice.
Dave was preceded in death by his loving first wife, Mary Frances; parents, Pastor George and Margaret Cressman.
Dave is survived by his loving and dedicated wife of 21 years, Joan Cressman; David, Jr. and Lisa Cressman; and Juliana and Brandon Coalson. He has three grandchildren, Garrett Coalson, Austin Coalson and Chase Cressman. He is also survived by his brother, George Cressman, Jr. and wife Judy, and his sister, Dr. Nancy Cressman, as well as two nephews and their families.
A memorial service will be at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 20 at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 1 West Ave. de Los Arboles, Thousand Oaks. Memorials for Dave Cressman may be sent to Livingston Memorial Hospice, 1996 Eastman Ave., Suite 101, Ventura, CA 93003.

Dear friend Joan, What a beautiful and admirable obituary you prepared for Dave. We remember well his robust laugh, his caring friendship and his thoughtful leadership as Congregational President at Holy Trinity. We regret that we will be in Oregon with our family this weekend and will miss the Memorial Service. May love, grace, comfort and good memories surround you in the days ahead. The Lord be with you.
