Eleanor Dylo passed away Oct. 12, 2010, at her home in Thousand Oaks, following complications from a stroke.
She was born July 1, 1915, in Chicago, Ill., and moved to Culver City in 1950 before moving to Thousand Oaks in 2005 to live with her daughter, Barbara, and son-in-law, Peter Lauer. Eleanor worked for Camstat Industries in West Los Angeles for 25 years, retiring in 1975.
For many years following her retirement, she was an active Avon representative in West Los Angeles. Eleanor enjoyed her trips to the Thousand Oaks Senior Center where she made many friends while playing bingo on a weekly basis. She also loved playing cards, gardening and her country music. Her long lasting love affair with the Los Angeles Lakers, especially Robert Horry, resulted in many hours in front of the TV and radio. Over the years Eleanor maintained a close relationship with her cousin, Evelyn Tersi, who resides in Chicago.
She was assisted for the past five years by her loving caregiver, Lina Sevilla, who was constantly by her side, and who took very special care of her.
Eleanor was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence, and her son, Larry.
She is survived by her daughter, Barbara (husband Peter); grandsons, Peter and Michael Lauer; and great-grandson, Luke Lauer.
The family is planning a private memorial service to celebrate Eleanor's life.
