George Mason Knapp, 67, passed away suddenly on October 12, 2010 at St. John's Pleasant Valley Hospital.
George was born September 28, 1943, in Arcadia, California to Gilbert and Bessie Knapp. George was a California native. After graduating from Palm Springs High School, he received a Bachelors degree from Brigham Young University and a Masters Degree from Pepperdine University. George was a resident of Camarillo for over 30 years where he and his late wife Sharon raised their eight children.
For nearly 40 years, George worked as a Certified Financial Planner. He built a successful estate and investment practice, Knapp Financial Advisors. His clients were like family to him. In 2004, he found love again with his current wife Bonnie Knapp. Outside of his family, his interest included fine food, travel, fast cars and photography. He spent his leisure time reading to expand his endless knowledge. He was a cowboy at heart.
He is survived by his wife Bonnie Knapp; eight children, Bill, Kathleen, Ron, Joann, David, Rachel, Robert and Rebekah, 24 grandchildren who adore him and loving extended family.
A viewing will be from 9:30 - 10:30 a.m. with a funeral service at 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 15, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Stake Center, 1201 Paseo Camarillo, Camarillo.

"Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?
...in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.

I was so sad I could not make it down for Georges services. Hearing his mother died the day before he did just shocked me. Maybe god has something his Mother and He needs to do. God bless your family. I lost my Dad a few years back from Cancer and it still hurts to this day.

To the Knapp Kids ~ Your dad took pride in all of you. Anytime I heard from George we would catch up and he would share all kinds of things about what you were all up too. Sorry for your loss. Your dad truly loved each and every one of you. I have always aspired to be like him when it came to being a Father.

We express our love and deepest sympathy at the passing of your dear George. We have been friends with George for many years. We were so happy when you came into his life after the passing of Sharon. We have grown to know and love you as we do George. You two are examples to all who know you of ones who love the Lord and show it by the lives you live and the service you give. We pray Heavenly Father's comforting spirit to be with you and bless you in every needful way.

Dear Sister Knapp, You don't know me well, but you know my family, (The Meyring's from Ox 3rd ward - I'm one of Linda Meyring's Daughters). I want you to know of my deep sympathy.
Last year I was able to attend your ward while babysitting the Carey Kids. You gave an amazing lesson where you shared "The parable of the cookie." I learned SO much from your lesson and the spirit you were able to provide.
Hold tight to the Spirit, He will truly be your comfort. The Lord will provide healing for you. Take time to enjoy and remember the love you and Brother Knapp have.
Families are (and will always be) Forever!

George was a friend for so many years with great memories, funny stories and warm humor, an intelligence and wit that was always appreciated, a kindness and smile that welcomed and was so appreciated, a caring and interest in ideas, people and adventures, a zest for life renewed and invigorated when he married Bonnie and was able to begin another, beautiful phase of life. We have learned much from George in his ability to express, especially love and respect for Bonnie and his children, his love for the Gospel and for life itself. A beautiful piece of art hangs in our home because George shared his love for art portrayed by a sculpture in a mortuary in St. George and its portrayal of crossing through the veil to the Savior. We are better people for knowing and loving George Knapp.

I always enjoyed Georges talks in Sacrament meeting and his knowledge of the Gospel. I especially will always remember the lesson on Adam and Eve which opened my mind to insights I hadn't realized before. I will miss his warm greeting each Sunday at church. With much Love, Mardene Hanson

Dear Bonnie and family, we miss George. He was a kind and gentle man and a good friend who shared his wisdom and advice freely. I enjoyed our hunting excursions even though George wasn't so interested in shooting a wild pig he loved just being out in the hills sneaking up on them. Our prayers and love will be with you all. An eternal perspective is so wonderful to have at this time.

Dear Grandpa,
I will miss you. I will miss playing with you. I loved playing at your house and being with you. I loved when you and grandma Bonnie came to stay with us in our new house and we drove around with all the boys in daddies truck. I loved always eating vanilla ice cream and chocolate with you. I will remember reading christmas stories on Christmas Eve with you and seeing Santa fly over your house. I will be sad without you. I love you, Dean Knapp (7 years old) son of David Knapp
