Helena Wills, 54 of Oxnard passed away on Sunday, November 21, 2010. She was born July 1, 1956 the second of ten children to Joseph and Naomia Jackson who preceded her in death. Ms. Wills was a retired Technician of Camarillo State Hospital where she worked for 22 years.
Born and raised in Oxnard, California she had been a Ventura County resident all her life. She graduated from Oxnard High School in 1975 and continued her education at Oxnard College where she received her Child Development Certification which enabled her to work with local preschool children and children at Camarillo State Hospital. Helena was known for her leadership in the community in the early 1970's for working with the California Youth Authority Colonnades II Drill Team as a Counselor and Drill Instructor, being a part of the Baptist Training Union (BTU) and working with the youth in Vacation Bible School.
She is survived by her two sons William A Wills (wife Jessica) and Nathaniel Wills. Three sisters Melissa Edmonds (Robert) of San Diego, Calif., Stacie Scissom (Renwick) of Oxnard, California., Cassandra Bennett (Stephen) of Camarillo, Calif. Six brothers Joseph D. Jackson Jr. (Nina) of Santa Maria, Harlen Jackson, Cedric Jackson, Lawrence Jackson (Gloria), Radford Jackson (Yvonne) all of Oxnard, Calif., Wendell Jackson (Stacy) of San Diego, Calif., two grandchildren, six aunts and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
The services have been entrusted to Reardon Funeral Home of Oxnard. The viewing will be from 4-9 p.m. Tuesday, November 30, 2010 at Reardon Funeral Home, 511 A. St., Oxnard, Ca 93030. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. on December 1, 2010 at St. Paul Baptist Church, 1777 Stathem Blvd., Oxnard Ca 93010.
