James Sevier Obituary

Former Ventura resident James O. Sevier, age 80, of Eugene, Ore., passed away on Sunday, Nov. 21, 2010 at Memorial Hospital in Bakersfield while visiting his family.

Mr. Sevier was born Oct. 6, 1930 in Boonville, Cooper County, Mo. Prior to moving to Oregon 10 years ago, he spent the majority of his life in Ventura. James was an operating engineer for 50 years and an active life member of Internation Union of Operating Engineers, local 12, Ventura. James enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting and fishing.

James is survived by his beloved wife of 63 years, Elvira "Boots" Sevier; sons, James Sevier and his wife Mickey of Lake Isabella, John Sevier and his wife Jane of Bakersfield, Steve Sevier of Iowa, Adam Sevier of Bakersfield, Charles Sevier and his wife Karen of Colorado; brother, John Sevier of Missouri; sisters, Mary Dow and her husband Walter of Michigan, Jean Reynolds and her husband Ted of San Leandro, Ruby Armstrong of Arizona; 15 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 29, 2010 at the Reardon Funeral Home, Ventura, with Pastor Dan Hull officiating. Burial will follow at Ivy Lawn Memorial Park, Ventura. Mr. Sevier was entrusted to the care of the family owned Reardon Funeral Home, 757 East Main Street, Ventura; 643-8623. Friends may visit at the funeral home on Monday starting at 9 a.m.
