Jess Garcia Obituary

Jess Garcia died at his home on Tuesday, Dec. 7, 2010 surrounded by family following surgery complications. He was 75 years old.

Jess, known to friends and family as "Chugey," was born Jan. 19, 1935. He was born on Santa Rosa Ranch in Camarillo and was raised in Oxnard. His parents were Bonifacio and Ruth Garcia of Oxnard. He worked for Schreiner Farm Equipment and H Cattle Company until he retired in 1998.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Bonafacio and Ruth, and brothers, Guadalupe and Mike Garcia.

Jess is survived by his wife of 55 years, Delfina Garcia; his four children: Cyndi Davis (Larry), Julie Davis (Kendall), Richard Garcia (Penny), and Patsy Garcia (Steve Del Real); grandchildren: Christine, Dianne, Stephanie, Brian, Roxanne, Kenny, Ricky, Keith, Nicole, Edward and Patrick; great-grandchildren: Dylan and Brian. Our family will be blessed with two new births in the coming year that will carry on "Papa's" spirit that lives within each one of us. He is also survived by brothers, Augustine Garcia, and John Garcia, and sisters, Lupe Guzman and Mary Hakes.

Jess was passionate about traveling on the Amtrak lines to Seattle, Washington, Santa Fe, New Orleans, Florida and Chicago. He spent time watching the History, Discovery and National Geographic Channels. He loved Country Music, and his passion was gardening and tending to his orange trees.

Special thanks to the fourth floor nursing staff and the CCU and ICU ward of Community Memorial Hospital for the compassion and professionalism you extended to our family.

A memorial service will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 15 at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Oxnard followed by a burial service at Santa Clara Catholic Cemetery.

To the Garcia and Cipres families. All though we didn't see Jess to much it was always nice to see him when he would come to visit Boni and Cuca. They were our neighbors in Oxnard. I would like to acknowledge the fact that both families are wonderful people and it's so sad when we lose one more of them. Our highest condolences to both families from " Manuel, Bea, Martha and Lupe Munoz" My God give you strength to continue in this world. Take care and God Bless.
