Lorenzo Vega Obituary

Lorenzo M. Vega, 88, of Santa Paula, died from an accidental fall at his home on Nov. 9, 2010.

Mr. Vega was born Sept. 5, 1922, in the State of Mexico, Mexico, and had been a 67-year Ventura County resident coming from Montana. Prior to retirement, he was a self-employed agriculturist for 75 years. Lorenzo Vega was a man in charge of himself, active in all his relationships and knew how to relax after a long day of hard work with cozy slippers and a newspaper. Many look up to his legacy and life to dream for themselves and he will be with us in our hearts always. His family and friends will remember his smile, his laugh, and his love.

Lorenzo was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Church in Santa Paula, a member and treasurer of Holy Name Society, Member of Church Finance Committee, and a cursillista. He was also a member of the Farm Bureau of Ventura County, Ventura County Ag Association, Sunkist Lemon Grower and Calavo Avocado Grower.

Mr. Vega is survived by daughters, Martha Vega and Yolanda Vega (twins), SSS, and Mary Helen Vega; son, Henry Vega; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Recitation of the Rosary is planned for 7 p.m., Monday, Nov. 15, with visitation from 6 - 8 p.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church, 427 North Oak Street, Santa Paula. Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 16, Our Lady of Guadalupe Church, Santa Paula. A banquet in his honor will immediately follow the services at Our Lady of Guadalupe Hall. Interment will follow at Bardsdale Cemetery, Fillmore.

In lieu of flowers, family suggests donations be sent to the Sisters of Social Service of Los Angeles, 4316 Lanai Rd., Encino, CA 91436. For maps and directions to all ceremony locations and to sign the family's online guest book, please visit www.caminodelsolfuneralhome.com.

To Mr Lorenzo Vega's Family:

Lorenzo was deeply involved at church, and he always helped me when I asked him. he used to remind me of my late grandfather, and was the kind of persons you don't see anymore; he was kind, friendly even if he didn't know you, very respectful, polite, and very smart. I remember seeing him on Sunday's mass every week for as long as i can remember, always with his loving wife by his side. I pray to God, not only for him, cause I know he should be in heaven by now, but i pray for you. its a great loss, but his traditions, and character was passed onto you. I pray you find the strength to remain calm in difficult times, and that you my find peace in your hearts. Que Dios los bendiga hoy, y todos los dias.
