Mother entered peacefully to rest, Wednesday, Oct. 6, 2010 at her home in Ventura.
Born July 10, 1927 to Harry J. and Mable M. Rowe, she grew up in Danbury, Wis., on her daddy's farm. The largest of all her siblings at twelve pounds, she was the only child to require a midwife. The family later moved to California where she began her own family. She married Melvin E. Schmidt May 10, 1964 in Reno, Nev. She loved square dancing, and belonged to several groups of dancers in Santa Rosa. She enjoyed collections of every kind, old family photos, storytelling and of course, her ever growing family. She will be remembered as the Avon lady to most around Ventura, Oxnard and Northern California. She took many families under her wing and they too became part of our family, learning to speak their languages and loving them as if they were her own.
She is survived by her loving husband, Melvin E. Schmidt, who was the love of her life; two sons, Otis J. Lozinto (Florida), George A. Davis (California); a son, Harry R. Lozinto, Sr.(California), predeceased her in 2002; two daughters, Victoria L. Guyett (New York) and Leah E. Barber (California); one sister, Naomi Bruhns (Oregon); grandchildren include 15 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Her siblings, all deceased, were Harvey and Bob Springer, Chuck and Bud Rowe, Joyce Wendt and Joanne Smith. Extended family all from the east coast, Tommy, Brian, Bobby, Marvin Schmidt, Gwen Schutta (deceased), five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Family by marriage includes Margery Wilk, (Michigan), Edwin Schmidt, and Lloyd Schmidt (Florida). A brother-in-law, Earl Schmidt, predeceased her. She will be dearly missed by all.

We just wanted to say how much we loved you and we are going to miss you. Especially when we call on speakerphone. You always had something funny to say to your "Tomisito".

May the road rise up to meet you.
May the wind always be at your back.
May the sun shine warm upon your face,
and rains fall soft upon your fields.
And until we meet again,
May God hold you in the palm of His hand.
I love you Grandma, I know you're in a better place. I wish I had more time with you.....until we meet again.

Be Still
Be still like the grass on a melancholy summer day
Be still like desert shrub.
Be calm and you will hear your loved one speak, in the stillness, in the calm, their love resounds.
If you are still this promise I make, you will hear the voice of your loved one helping you along your way.

There are so many memories of you that I wanted to share with everyone, but it would have filled an entire page or more. Everyone will have their thoughts of you forever in their hearts as I do. I love you from the bottom of my heart. You keep me strong.
