Richard passed away peacefully at home with those who loved him at his bedside.
He is survived by his wife Judith, and his three children, Lorie Madrid, Miles (Tonie) Talmage, Micheal (Janice) Talmage and his six beautiful grandchildren by age, Raymond, Vivian, Richie, Gared, Matthew and Jason. He was preceded in death by his father, Merlin E., his mother Genave Ball Talmage, and his most beloved mother-in-law, Irene Way.
He attended Ventura High School graduating in 1961 and attended Ventura College. He had a full and colorful life, as those who knew him would tell you. He started his family in S.B. and enjoyed being a dad. He worked for bottled water Comp., rising to have the most customers and carrying the most glass bottles.
He relocated to Ventura with his family, joining the Carpenters Union as a ceiling guy. He was proudest for his work for the CMH and government center project, and too many others to name them all. In 1976 he saw an opportunity to advance into the Carpenters Union # 1506, as an Acoustical Industrial Fund. He found his passion and joy, in being a spokesman and supporter for the right to work. He rose up into the ranks within his union and became #1506 recording secretary and business agent until he retired in 2006.
His commute to LA for 18 years, became more than his body could handle, he did not want to retire. His work was his life. His other joy was fishing, most deep sea, where on one all day trip, he met his future wife. Her love for fishing was the connection of their many many years together. They were best friends and enjoyed each others company until his passing. He will be sorely missed by everyone who knew him, along with his two, four-legged kids, Abe and Blossom.
There will be a celebration of his life in Jan. for more information call. 805-653-5956.
