Roland Vedder Obituary

Born in 1915 in Carbon, CA (a town later flooded for the creation of Lake Britton), Rusty was raised on a cattle ranch near Burney, CA. He skied uphill (both ways!) to attend schools in Burney and Fall River Mills.

A graduate of Curtis Wright Technical Institute, He was an employee of North American/Rockwell/Boeing for over 45 years. He worked on the design and manufacture of aeronautic instruments ranging from WWII fighters, the X-15, the B1 bomber and the Apollo moon missions. He received a special commendation for his work on the Apollo program.

He was preceded in death buy his wife of 62 years, Helen. H

e will be missed by his children, James Vedder of St. Maries, Idaho, JoAnn Perlis (husband Bob) of Ventura, CA and Christina Vedder of Livermore, CA; grandchildren Chris Aquelina (husband Jim), Anna Bradford (husband Doug), Robert Perlis Jr. (wife Karee), Jennifer Sabin (husband Kevin), Jonathan (wife Liz) and Suzette Vedder. Great-grandchildren Amy, Frankie, Ollie, Sadie, Allie, Cassie, Gabby, Genevieve, Lexy, Gabbie, Zach, Elijah and Zoe, and a baby boy Vedder on the way.
