Ronald J. Prescott

1937 - 2011

Ron Prescott passed away on June 7, 2011, at his residence in Simi Valley after a courageous battle with cancer.

Ron was born on June 10, 1937, and was raised in Detroit, Mich. He graduated with a Bachelors Degree from General Motors Institute in Flint, Mich., and earned his MBA at Wayne State University. After 16 years working as a marketing manager for the AC Delco unit of GM in Detroit, Chicago, and Cincinnati, he moved his family to Southern California in 1976, continuing as Regional Manager until his retirement in 1987. He then founded RJ Prescott & Associates, consulting in marketing until his death.

Ron married Joan (JJ), the love of his life, on April 8, 1995, and they moved to Simi Valley in 1996. Since 2007, Ron developed a love of teaching and became an adjunct professor at the Brooks Institute of Photography in Ventura, teaching marketing courses to a large number of admiring students. Ron is a member of the Conejo Valley Masonic Lodge, Westlake Business Connections, and previously was active in the Westlake Village Sunrise Rotary Club, and the Greater Conejo Valley Chamber of Commerce. He enjoyed entertaining, trips with JJ, spending time with his friends and family, and tasting/collecting great California wines.

Ron was preceded in death by his father, Myrell, in 2007, and his brother, James, in 1994. He is survived by his loving wife, JJ; mother, Geraldine; stepdaughters, Meagan Bennett and Amber Banuelos, and their children, Landon, Kiera, and Connor; daughter, Nancy Prusha; sons, David and Jeffrey; and grandchildren, Chelsea, Jessica, and Ryan.

A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, June 18, at the Conejo Valley Masonic Lodge located at 2786 Crescent Way, Thousand Oaks, CA 91362. There will be a reception following the service at the Lodge Hall.

In lieu of flowers the family has requested that donations be made to the Wellness Center in Westlake Village. Ron will be sorely missed by his family, friends, students, and all those who knew him.
