Delwyn Dunkin Obituary
Delwyn Arthur Dunkin, 84, passed away on Jan. 8, 2011 with his beloved family at his side. He was born August 6, 1926, in Riverton, Neb.
Delwyn, a former resident of Barstow, is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Lorrayne (Nelson) Dunkin; his children, Linda Cable and her husband, Clark, Larry Dunkin and Les Dunkin and his wife, Diane; seven grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; and eight siblings. Delwyn, the eldest of eleven children, was preceded in death by a great-granddaughter and two brothers.
Delwyn was a U.S. Army World War II veteran and honorably served his country from 1944 to 1946. He saw action in the Asiatic and Pacific Theatres, along with the occupation of Japan and the Philippine Liberation. Delwyn began his adult life as a farmer and later became a truck driver, retiring from Yellow Freight in 1989 after nearly 20 years of service.
Services will be on Friday, Jan. 14, 2011 at Mead Mortuary, 36930 Irwin Road in Barstow. Visitation will be at 9 a.m., the funeral service at 10 a.m., and burial with military honors will follow at Mt. View Memorial Park, 37067 Irwin Road, Barstow.
Donations in memory of Delwyn may be made to the Veteran's Home of California - Barstow, Activity Fund, 100 E. Veteran's Parkway, Barstow, CA. 92311.

MR. DUNKIN WAS A VERY SWEET MAN. ALWAYS HAD A SMILE EVERY TIME HE CAME IN THE OFFICE. HE WILL TRULEY BE MISSED. MY PRAYERS ARE WITH MRS. DUNKIN AND THE FAMILY.
