Valentin Armendarez Jr.
Valentin Armendarez Jr. "Junior," was called home to be with the Lord on March 4, 2010, peacefully surrounded by his family.
He is survived by his loving wife, Donilia (Donnie) Armendarez; his children, Victoria Armendarez Gibson and her husband, William, and Miguel Armendarez and his wife, Neveen; grandchildren, Rosalinda Cordova, Jonathan Tafoya, Joshua Gibson and his wife, Stephanie, Miguel Armendarez Jr., Daniel Armendarez, Clarissa Armendarez, Timothy Armendarez, Anthony Guirges, and Christine Guirges; great-granddaughter, Victoria Grace Armendarez; sisters, Carmen Galvan, Rose Cervantez and her husband, Richard, and Francis Franco; sister-In-laws, Ida Sena and Patsy Sena, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Junior joins in heaven his grandson, Mark Armendarez; Mother and Father, Guadalupe and Valentin Sr.; brothers, Robert, Mike, and Jack; sisters: Stella Barragan and Doris Portillo.
Junior was born in Madera, California on July 16, 1942, and moved to Barstow as a child with his Mom. He worked at the Marine Corps Logistic Base as an inspector for over 30 years. After retiring, Junior spent time with his wife and family, enjoyed traveling, and took up woodworking, making beautiful pieces of furniture for his family to admire. Junior was a very loving and caring husband, father, and grandfather. He was loved and respected by all who knew him. He was a very strong and honorable man full of confidence in every endeavor he encountered.
In his younger years, Junior enjoyed karate and playing racquetball, yet he lived for his family and enjoyed having everyone together for any occasion. He was often quiet and reserved but very observant and never forgot a friend. Those who knew him well will always remember his contagious laughter, his love for the Lord, his love for his family, his well groomed appearance, and his beautiful silver hair. He will continue to live on in everyone who knew him. His family are the ones who are truly blessed by God to have been given such a man as Junior to be a part of their lives. He will be truly missed.
Services will be held on Thursday, March 11, 2010, at 10 a.m. at Mead Mortuary, 36930 Irwin Road. Burial will follow at Mt. View Memorial Park, 37067 Irwin Road.
