Jean,
I will never forget the day you came to Stephenville and bought your new Cadillac. You were both a joy to be with.Garnet was a sweet man and he had to be because he had a wonderful and sweet wife.It was strange when I was reading Garnet's obituary this morning and read where he was born in Hubbard.I sold the current Mayor of Hubbard (Terry Reddell)a truck last year.It was strange to meet two people from the same small town.I have your whole family in my thoughts and prayers.

We have known Garnet & Jean for many years, I will always remember Garnet as a man with Pride as he walked by his lovely wife. They were the perfect pair.
To Jean & the Family our Prayer is that Comfort & Peace will come knowing that Garnet is home with our Lord.
Jean, I think the Lord would have these few little words to say to you and they would be CARRY ON SWEET LADY, CARRY ON !! Garnet was a Good Man and it was my Pleasure & Honor to have known him !!

Becky,
Your dad was so precious. I have so many wonderful memories of him when we were young. Remember, “Death is a friend to the Christian whose body is no longer fit for the soul.” I love you, my dear friend, and your incredible family.

Becky,
I did not get the opportunity to meet your father, but I can see what a great man he was. He has raised a beautiful, sweet and caring daughter and that says so much about the kind of person he must have been. I will keep you and your family in my prayers for the days to come. God will give you the comfort you all need and your friends will be here to hold your hand along the way.

I was so fortunate to have known Grandpa Vardeman, and consider the Vardeman and Hester family members my own, just as they treated me as one of their own (Kerstie Varde-Hester). What a wonderful man he was! I can remember visiting their home for family dinners, birthdays and holidays countless times, always so welcoming and comforting.
The last time I got to spend with him was at one of his niece's rehearsal dinners for her wedding, Anne. He and I sat next to each other and talked all dinner about my time at Baylor, my future, the Bears' trip to the Sweet 16 and Elite 8 basketball tournaments, and his time as a Baylor Bear. He always kept up with what was going on in my life, and was always so sweet to wish me luck and to "study hard and make good friends". At the wedding, as Anne and her new husband Jacob were sharing their first dance as husband and wife, Grandpa V's loving wife and I talked about the first time they met. Even after 60 plus years together, you could still see the love in her eyes as she looked across the room at her husband, describing their first date, wedding, and how she knew he was "the one". Their love and devotion to each other held true until his last breath. She never once left his side, and her strength is one of the admirable traits she possesses. I can only hope to find the love they shared one day.
Grandpa V, you are a great man. It was so wonderful knowing you and spending some of my best times in life, like graduation, your niece's/my best friends' wedding, birthdays, holidays and so many other times with you and your family. Thank you for always believing in me and for being a Baylor fan all of these years. You will be deeply missed by your family and friends, but never forgotten.

"Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted." Matthew 5:4.
