Leslie Lechler Obituary

Leslie Earl (Straw) Lechler, 91, passed away Jan. 28, 2009, at a local nursing center. A graveside service will be 10 a.m. Friday, Jan. 30, at Oakwood Cemetery. Leslie was born June 15, 1917, in Valley Mills, to Fredrick and Dona Lechler. He enlisted in the U. S. Army in 1942, and was Honorably Discharged in 1946 as a Technician Fifth Grade, Service Company 382nd Infantry Regiment 96th Division. He then worked several years as a truck driver for Central Texas Ironworks from where he retired. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Hazel Pauline Lechler; and his 13 siblings. Survivors include his daughter, Barbara Jeffcoat; his grandchildren, Benjamin Bush Jr., Lisa Saxton, Venita Yokus and Leslie Bush; 14 great grandchildren; and a very special niece, Kathy White.
