Mr. Hewlett was a retired manager for Placid Oil Company.
Survivors include his wife, Gloria Martin Hewlett, of Dallas; sons, Robert E. Hewlett III and wife, Tracy, of Benton, La., and Jeffrey Martin Hewlett and wife, Grace, of Meridian; five grandchildren; and several siblings.
