Of Dale City, VA, died on Monday, August 7, 2006 at Westminster at Lake Ridge Health Care Center. She was one of thirteen children. She lived in Old Town Alexandria until 1947 when she moved to Fairfax County, then to Prince William County in 1979. She was a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Alexandria, later joining All Saints Episcopal Church in Dale City. She enjoyed bowling (duck pins), bingo and partying with her family and friends. In 1980, Mrs. Peter retired from the federal government, National Security Agency. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Mrs. Peter was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, David Peter. She is survived by her daughters, Sharon Mohn and Vicki Shoemaker, both of Prince William; her grandchildren, David Carver of Leesburg, Brian Shoemaker of Lake Ridge and Tara Koloszar of Centreville, VA; and two great-grandchildren, Shawn Carver and Samantha Carver. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, August 9 from 7 to 9 p.m. at MOUNTCASTLE FUNERAL HOME, 4143 Dale Blvd., Dale City, VA, where funeral services will take place on Thursday, August 10 at 12:30 p.m. Interment will follow at Mount Comfort Cemetery. Donations may be made to Westminster at Lake Ridge Health Care Center, Patient Escrow Fund, 12185 Clipper Drive, Lake Ridge, VA 22192 in memory of Vivian Peter.
