My condolences to Liz and Lynn, and I hope you can celebrate a life well lived. Your father was a supporter and friend to my family many years ago, and we will always remember him with fondness and the deepest respect. The world would be a better place with more leaders like John Buchanan.

To Liz and Lynn,
I admired your father so very much; and I'm grateful for the opportunity to have worked for him when he served in the U. S. House of Representatives. He was a true statesman.
My thoughts and prayers are with you and the family.

I had the pleasure of meeting John while he resided at Brightview. He was friends with someone that I visited at the home. I found him to be delightful, intelligent and a real gentleman. I'm sorry for the family's loss of this special man. Rest In Peace John.

I had the honor of meeting Mr. Buchanan during his brief stay in the WHCC at Asbury. It didn't take long to learn that he was someone special...charismatic, humble, genuine and a real people person. He had an apparent gift of making an impact. Prayers to his family for their profound loss. No doubt he is resting easy in God's loving arms.

I worked with John at People For the American Way. He was a good man and committed to solid principles of democracy. An example of a person being capable of changing and learning his whole life. So honored to have known him.

May our loving Lord comfort you, Lynn and Liz, as your reflect upon the marvelous legacy of your Dad. His light shone brightly through winsome civility, passion for justice, and love for family. I shall never forget the smile on his face as he listened to the recording of your grandfather's devotional on music. With love from the Rhea Family.

I had the pleasure and honor of working with John when he was at People For the American Way. He was a true "mensch," always caring and pleasant even while being a forceful and strong advocate for First Amendment rights. I learned so much from him and am so grateful for his kindness and leadership. May his memory be a blessing. I am sorry to be out of town this weekend and unable to be at his memorial.
