Dwight and I were on the same floor in Dabney House as 1st Year men at UVA in 1962-1963. Dwight was a great guy and a good friend. He also was a bit ahead of the rest of us when it came to girls. :)) It's been nearly sixty since I last saw Dwight, but I will always remember him.

Dwight was a really sweet guy, always very friendly. I'm glad I got to visit with him before I left the Virginia area. We lived just a few blocks away, when we were growing up, and everyone in the neighborhood liked Dwight. The family has my prayers and deepest sympathy in his passing. Dwight will be missed! God bless his soul.

I just now found out about Dwight's passing. We are so sorry to hear about this. We also use to hang out on the bridge with him. He was one of the kindest and quietest person I have ever met. He always had a twinkle in his eye and a grin on his face. He will be greatly missed by all of his JV friends and everyone who knew him. I will always remember all of the fun we had hanging out with you. Rest in peace Dwight. Our condolences to his Family.

Dwight, or as we called him, Curly, was my letter carrier when I lived on Rose Place. He was a great carrier, but more importantly a great person.

Condolences to the Dwight Bernot family. Dwight and I attended high school together, graduating in 1962. Dwight was the postman for my neighborhood for many years and he would always take the time to keep me up to date on other mutual high school friends still in the area. After he retired, Dwight still walked his postal route and he would continue to stop by and we would sit in my front yard reminising about the past. Dwight was my neighbor and a good friend--I will miss you good buddy!!!!

Uncle Dwight was an honorable, generous man who never spoke ill of anyone and didn't have a mean bone in his body. I am his brother's youngest and I will truely miss him. As I said during his viewing/service, I will always remember the times we spent together when I was little. We used to play school together and it didn't matter that he was 40 years older than me... he was always willing to have fun, smile. That is the way I will always remember my uncle.
We love you Uncle Dwight - you will be greatly missed by many many people. By the number of people at the viewing, I know that to be true. RIP until we meet again.

I too am a neighbor who walks my dogs everyday and saw Mr. Bernot frequently. He may have been a man of few words but always took the time to say hi to my children who often took notice of him. My condolences to his family and friends for their great loss.

Dear Family of Mr. Bernot, Our condolences to you. Mr. Bernot was very considerate and always had a smile or kind word for those lucky enough to be on his route. I did not know him very well, but he faithfully and politely delivered our mail - through all kinds of weather just as the adage says. In more recent days, I'd exchanged greetings with Mr. Bernot as he continued his frequent walks, for exercise. May the Lord grant him the joys of Heaven, and peace and comfort to you who loved him. A neighbor, Rita Semenov

The the Bernot Family, I didn't really know Dwight but saw him almost daily as he (and I) went about our daily walkabouts. His gorgeous full head of hair and light blue windbreaker could be seen blocks away. We'd wave or briefly comment on the weather. I'll really miss his gentle spirit and kind smile!!!
