SEARCH CHARLES T. SEARCH Colonel US Army (Ret.) Col. Charles T. Search USA, (Ret) passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 3, 2010 at the Potomac Center, Arlington, Virginia at the age of 76 after a long but heroic battle with cancer. He was born July 17, 1933 in Cornwall-on-the-Hudson, New York. In 1955, "Charlie" began a distinguished military career after his graduation from the University of Pennsylvania''s Wharton School of Finance and Commerce. Prior to college he attended the American School of Manila in the Philippines. His military assignments included Lieutenant with the 1st Cavalry Division just below the DMZ in the Republic of Korea; the US Strike Command in Tampa, Florida; the Office of the Secretary of Defense with duty station at the US Mission to NATO for four years as the Executive Officer of the Secretary of Defense in Paris, France and in Brussels, Belgium; and finally with the Military Assistance Command . Vietnam (MACV) in the Republic of Vietnam. He received the following medals and commendations; Legion of Merit, Bronze Star, Meritorious Service Medal, Joint Services Commendation Medal, Army Commendation Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, RVN Staff Service Medal, and Vietnam Campaign Medal. Col. Search retired from the Army in 1976 and began a second career in real estate. He was active in the Northern Virginia Board of Realtors (NVAR) and was a member of the NVAR Hall of Fame and Life Member of the Multi-Million Dollar Sales Club. Charlie was predeceased by his loving mother, M. Antoinette and father, Charles O. Search. He is survived by his first cousins, Ralph J. Poness, Needham, Massachusetts, Michael C. Poness, Takoma Park, Maryland, Susan J. Patton, Coral Springs, Florida. Susan Colombo, Lakeworth, Florida, Debbie Fick, Lantana, Florida, Jeanne Search-Back, Pacific City, Oregon and Judy Hebding, Cooper City, Florida. Charlie was known for his wit and his ingenious way of making people laugh. He will be missed by his family and his many friends that he made throughout his life. Viewing will be at the Murphy Funeral Home, 4510 Wilson Boulevard, Arlington, Virginia on Sunday, June 13, 2010 from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. Funeral Mass will be at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, 830 South 23rd Street, Arlington, Virginia on Monday June 14, 2010 at 10 a.m. Interment with Full Military Honors, Arlington National Cemetery on Wednesday, September 22 at 3 p.m. with friends and family assembling at the Administration Building at 2:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be sent to the Franciscan Friars of the Atonement, Graymoor-on-the-Hudson, P.O. I miss ole Charlie! Hes having a blast in heaven!!

Charlie was my property manager while I served overseas, and he did an excellent job. We always had the most interesting conversations as well as many good laughs together....he reminded me of someone who "lived life to the fullest". Here's to you Charlie...rest in peace....you and your family and friends are in my thoughts and prayers. Mary Pfannenstein
