I was stunned and extremely saddened to hear of Monica's passing. A longtime friend since childhood on 33rd Place. I will miss her bright spirit and the long chats when catching up on things. She is definitely among heaven's angels and her poetic spirit will live on. May God bless the Pree family and keep you in His comforting arms. Much love to you all.

I met Monica in 2009 when she became a tutor at the Cultural Academy For Excellence in Hyattsville, MD. She was a caring, dedicated, no-nonsense, energetic, high-spirited teacher who genuinely loved her work and her students...........and they loved her! Her classroom was always filled with activities. She held their interest, and they always looked forward to going to Ms. Monica's class! All these years during our many talks, it never occurred to me to ask if she was related to a Phyllis Pree whom I juuust discovered today is her aunt. Phyllis and I were in the same graduating Class from Dunbar High School in 1956. Ironically, Monica mirrored the same "spunk" that Phyllis had at Dunbar. Monica was a good listener; her easy smile, humor, funny conversations, contagious laugh will be remembered, and I will miss this lovely lady!

Monica was a true renaissance woman who lived life to the fullest. Monica knew how to be a friend and to love others. My life is enriched by knowing her, and though I will miss her and do miss her, I know what we shared will be with me forever as I look into the faces of friends we shared and her family who embraced me because I loved her (smile).
