Howard was a very loving, thoughtful brother. In 1956 Howard, Millie and three children came to Vernal to visit us. We were so happy to have them. In 1996 my sister Ruth, husband Ben and myself went to Howard and Millies for a wonderful visit. They took us to all the national historical sites, When Millie would be helping at the thrift store, Howard, while waiting, would call me on his c-phone. We had many good talks together. Howard always had great love and concerns for his mother and father. I love you-Howard. Dagmer

Howard was 4 years older than me and after he joind the navy we saw very little of him. He served the country well and while he and his four brothers served we all went in different directions. As we grew up in provo I had a hard time catching up with him but we played together in the summer and very seldom wore shirts or shoes and played in the irrigation ditch all the time. When dad built our home in orem, he bought an old home at soldier summit in spanish fork canyon and tore it down and us kids spent a lot of time pulling nails from the boards an getting them out to orem. We lived across the street from lincoln high and played there alot. When we first moved to orem they showed the shows in the auditorium at school and they were building the Scera theater one block away and we spent a lot of time working there, not for money but for passes to the shows. In the summer we picked all kinds of fruit to earn money. Cherries at 1 or 2 cents a lb.,peaches & apples & prunes & strawberries & raspberries and then to the garden to pick up tomtoes and potatoes, any thing to earn a little cash. It has been great living here but it has changed very much and I don;t think Howard could remember it very much but the house that dad built is still there and we live just a few houses east. Millie, we are sorry that he is gone but he suffers no more. May our heavenly bless and comfort you and your children at this time. You are in our prayers all the time. Love Sterling.

We were so sorry to hear about Howard's passing. My mother, Velma, was his half sister and we all thought so highly of him. When I was young and growing up in Long Beach, CA, Howard would visit us quite often. He was one of our favorites.

Our sincere sympathies to all who knew and loved him. This is an irreplacible loss. There will never be another Howard E. Byland. There doesn't have to be. The one we knew still exists and awaits the reunion that is to come
