IOANNA MARKATATOS KASKASIAN (Age 41)
On August 2, 2015 of Olney, MD. Beloved wife of Bedros Kaskasian; loving mother of Izabella Rose, Jacob Khajag and Gabriella Layla; cherished daughter of Ioannis and Ekaterini Markatatos; sister of Maria (John) Drapas Jr.; and loving daughter-in-law of Hagop and Vartouhie Kaskasian. Also survived by her nieces, Georgia, Katerina and Marianna; loving aunts, uncles, nephews, neices, and cousins in the USA, Greece and Lebanon. Friends may call at Hines-Rinaldi Funeral Home, 11800 New Hampshire Ave., Silver Spring, MD 20904 on Wednesday, August 5, 2015 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Service will be held at St. Andrew Ukrainian Orthodox Church, 15100 New Hampshire Ave., Silver Spring, MD 20905 on Thursday, August 6, 2015 at 11:30 a.m. Interment to follow at the Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Silver Spring, MD. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Church, Silver Spring, MD and Soorp Khatch Apostolic Church, Bethesda, MD. To the beloved family of Ioanna, I may have not met her in the halls of Hopkins but I want to convey my deepest sympathy to her family.
Thank you for all the goodness you've shown to our patients and for giving all your best in taking care of them. You will be missed. We may have lost a great Hopkins Nurse, but I know, heaven just gained a beautiful angel in you.

I worked with Joanna several years ago in the MICU and was heartbroken to hear of her loss. She was an amazing nurse who was devoted to her patients. I especially remember her love of baking and all the amazing cakes she brought in to work. :) May you cherish her memory and be comforted by all the lives that she touched.

To the Family of Joanna Kaskasian: I am an Olney Mill neighbor and I saw Joanna grow from the little girl at Belmont Elem School into a beautiful, kind and loving woman. She loved her family and was such a good mother. I always enjoyed talking to her and seeing her with her family at the Olney Mill park. I send my sympathy and prayers for God to be with you now and always.

For some moments in life there are no words. When someone you love becomes a memory, the memory becomes a treasure.
